Giwa Alhaji Suraju Lasisi asked Muslim faithfuls to emulate the virtues of Prophet Mohammed as they celebrate Eid-el-Fitr. He used the occasion to call on all Muslims to put into practice, lessons learnt during the Ramadan period and to love and share with the less privileged in the society as exemplified by Prophet Mohammed.
Azury, as he is fondly called, in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the club (Egbe), Yori Comrade Akeem Temitope Akilo, in Ijebu Ode on Saturday enjoined Muslims to use this period to offer prayers for peace, unity, prosperity, and healing the land of the COVID-19 global pandemic, as well as the rapid development at all levels of governance in the country.
In the statement, he said despite the ravaging effects of the COVID-19 pandemic globally, Allah has protected those that abide by His obligations, while calling for more prayers for the quick healing of the land.
He said on many occasions, the Prophet Muhammed (S.A.W) advised followers to value their lives as the utmost importance over death in his numerous sayings (hadiths). Therefore, he urged people to stay away from places where there is epidemic.
"Muslim faithfuls should adhere to government’s established protocols on social distancing, wearing of face masks and hand-washing in order to stay safe" part of his statement reads.
