He became the first king ever to be crowned in Iguruland, Surulere, Lagos just last year, but popular socialite and businessman of many decades, Alhaji Buari Alade Oloto has passed on just ten months into his reign. The well-known real estate guru-turned monarch died this morning at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
CityScoop sources have hinted a few months back of a life-threatening ailment that has kept the late monarch away from the public for a period of time.
His remains are currently being readied for burial today, according to Islamic injunctions.
The rich socialite, who has been dominating the Lagos social scene for over 40 years. He was fondly called “Abu Oloto” until he became Oba Oloto last September. It would be recalled that Oloto fought a long battle that lasted 17 years before he could finally bear the crown.
Iguruland is in Aguda Surulere and the crowning of Oloto last year was the first time it will be having a king since the 19th century.
Before he became a monarch, Oloto's name has already become an item on the social scene for decades, with most of the big musicians waxing songs and records in his honour. Late Alhaji Sikiru Ayinde Barrister was one of his favorite longstanding friend.
