Lagos Textile Merchant, Hajia Sherifat Olugbode Parts Ways With Hubby; Celebrates 60th Birthday

They have been one of the most-celebrated couples on the Lagos Society scene for years. Alhaji Tajudeen and Alhaja Sherifat Olugbode are known to be that rich celebrity couple envied by many. But things have fallen apart between them, with both now staying separately. Alhaji Tajudeen has moved out of their Ikoyi home to a new house with a new, younger wife, sources hinted CityScoop. The new wife, a Banker, is the cause of the crisis rocking the decades-old marriage of the Olugbodes.

That all is no longer well between Hajia Sherifat and her husband first became public knowledge when she celebrated her 60th birthday a few weeks back (Sunday, June 20). Her husband was conspicuously absent at the celebration where she hosted families and friends admist pomp and paegentry at her Ikoyi home.

We gathered that the couple has been having issues for some time now over the husband's relationship with the young banker, who was their account officer. Her husband's insistence on marrying the said lady was the final straw that broke the camels back. 

One of the highly-successful businesswomen on the social scene, Hajia Sherifat Olugbode is a bigwig in the popular textile business on Lagos Island. She has been in the business for over four decades. She is a force to reckon with in that line. When the going was good, Hajia Sherifat and her husband were known to always attend social functions together, always in a lovey-dovey mood.

Alhaji Tajudeen Olugbode is a real estate developer and he plays big in that sector. He is also a notable socialite and a member of the prestigous Island Club. His conspicuous absence at his wife's 60th however did not come as a surprise to those who know much about the hiccups in that marriage.

The new lady in the picture now is said to be from Edo state. She was earlier the account officer to Alhaja Sherifat before she later started managing the account of both them.

Sources further revealed that close family members waded in on the matter, but they couldn't reconcile the estranged celebrity couple.

The carnival like wedding staged by the couple for their daughter in 2015 is still fresh in many memories. Hajia Sherifat and her hubby caught the envy of many guests at the wedding ceremony which took place at at the KFA Event centre, Lekki.

Just back in August 2019, Alhaji Tajudeen Ayinla and Alhaja Sherifat Adunni Olugbode were installed as the Agbaaakin Bobagunwa and Yeye Agbaaakin Bobagunwa of Ibadanland by His Royal Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji (Aje Oguguniso 1) at an elaborate event. It was their last major celebration together as a couple.
