Upon his appointment by Governor Hope Uzodinma, the Vice Chancellor Of the Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University, Professor Ikechukwu Dozie has resumed duty at the University campus. Professor Dozie was welcomed by members of staff of the University with a standing ovation at the conference hall of the institution.
Recall that the Imo State House of Assembly had passed a bill for a law to repeal the Eastern Palm University Establishment Law No. 3 of 2019, and the university allegedly owned by the former Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha was duely renamed K. O Mbadiwe University. In agreement with a proposal by Gov. Hope Uzodinma upon resumption of office, the house members concluded the university should be fully recovered by the state, since it was allegedly built with the state’s funds. They also queried some processes involved in the establishment of the university and its initial claim of ownership, saying it was fraudulent and not in the general interest of the people.
Addressing the members of staff, Prof Dozie expressed happiness over the turnout for the event, and told the staff that His mission is to actualize the dream of moving the University forward while describing the government of His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodimma as that of due process.
Professor Dozie said that all the necessary logistics will soon be put in place so that students of the university will graduate .
Speaking further, Prof Dozie described himself as a servant leader and promised to lead by example, with honesty as his watchword,.
He stated, " I am happy to be here today - I came here today for the first time so that you will know that the VC is real - The government of the day is government of due process - I am a due process person and I want to thank Governor Hope Uzodimma for finding me worthy".
