At 85, renowned industrialist and successful Kwara-born businessman, Prince Samuel Adedoyin (Chairman of Doyin Group) has seen it all about life. But his old heart would have been badly broken recently due to some sad occurrences that have rocked his family. Yesterday, Prince Adedoyin lost his daughter, Mrs Lola Olobayo (a well-celebrated society woman). Her death, at a private hospital in Lagos, was reported to be caused by cardiac failure related to COVID-19. Lola Olobayo's tragic death came just barely two months after his son died in controversial circumstances. It also came just few days less than three years after the demise of another daughter of the Billionaire, Hon. Funke Adedoyin who was a member of the House of Representatives. Also a former Health minister, Funke died on September 28, 2018 after a futile battle with cancer at 56.
Sources close to the family of the Doyin Group founder said the late Lola Olobayo did not get over the mystery surrounding the death of his son, until she succumbed to death herself yesterday. She was married to Managing Director of Royals Fast Food, Ilorin, Prince John Olabayo. The Olobayo's family had in the past few weeks been battling with the heartaches over what could have made their 28-year-old son, Subomi commit suicide in the early hours of one Tuesday back in June, right in their home.
The body of Subomi was reportedly discovered around 5pm in the backyard of their Ilorin residence, while he was said to have left the house around 11am. Sources close to the family had revealed that Subomi was depressed for sometime and that he was said to have had running battles with his father.
The late Lola Olobayo, who used to be a popular name on the social scene, was said to have died about seven days after admission at the hospital. Reports also said that she had not seen or been with her husband since the tragic death of their son.
Meanwhile, arrangements for her burial is currently being arranged by her husband and other family members. The Lagos mansion of her dad, the popular philanthropist and businessman, is currently deserted as he has been moved to his country home in Kwara state.
