High Society Turn Up For Textile Baroness, Sisi Dupe Sagoe's Grand 80th Birthday

Yesterday, Wednesday,, January 5, popular society matriarch and fabric merchant, Mrs Modupeore Ashabi Sagoe celebrated her 80th birthday. It was a well planned, classy ceremony that kicked off with a thanks lgiving service held at the Catheral Church of Christ, Marina, which was followed by a grand, well attended reception at the Habourt Point, on Wilmont Point Road, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Sisi Dupe, as she is fondly called is regarded as one of the long-standing matriarchs of the Lagos social establishment. She is one of the most-successful women ever in the fabrics business. Over the last few decades, she has remained the leading textile and fabric merchant in Nigeria with the biggest clientele of the rich and famous.

She has been honoured by most of the textile firms in Switzerland and other parts of the globe. Dupe Sagoe is the grand matriarch of luxury textile and fabrics business in Nigeria, a reputation she earned over her fifty years sojourn in the business. One of the greatest honours bestowed on her was the branding of the popular HOH Swiss headgear, 'Gele Sagoe', with her name.

Mrs Dupe Sagoe is a unique being. That explains why she is dear to the hearts of many. So, the reason why the creme of the Lagos society swam all round her yesterday to celebrate her hitting 80 could not be far fetched.

Mama Sisi Sagoe's  80th was the first classy owambe for the year and the party lived up to its billing; it was classy. In all form. Rave of the moment live band led by Laolu Gbenjo was on the stands to spice up the colourful event with good music.

The roll call of guests is such a long one. Family members, friends, top government officials, and notable socialites were there in their numbers to celebrate Sisi Sagoe.

Meanwhile, it beats the imagination of many that despite that she is a fabric merchant, no Aso Ebi or Gele was picked for Mrs Sagoe's 80th. But guests at the party all looked their bests in different colourful HOH and Swiss laces. It was a joyous and defining moment for Sisi Dupe who is known for her beautiful smiles always.
