Florence Ajimobi At 63: Widow Of Ex-Oyo Governor Soldiers On With Her Hubby's Political Machinery, Eyes The Senate In 2023

Today, Chief Mrs Florence Ajimobi, former First Lady of Oyo State and widow of the immediate-past Governor, late Senator Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi turns 63. She was born in Benin City, Edo State on the 5th of April, 1959. Like a diamond just out of rough mud, she has emerged from her world that came crashing down following the death of her husband just about two years ago. She has soaked in her bereavement and now bears the torch dropped by her (almost inseparable) late husband. On the occasion of her birthday today, she is being celebrated far and wide. Not only that, Mrs Ajimobi has become the leading female politician in Oyo State today, having taken over what is left of her late husband's political empire. She is among those calling the shots in the APC. Despite the fractions within the party in the state her position is not threatened.
Without flattering her unnecessarily, the former First Lady has done a good job of fitting herself well into the position. She built well on the influence of her late husband and his estimable grasp of politics.
The major story circulating underground right now is that she is set to pick the Oyo South Senatorial ticket of the APC in the coming elections. Her chances of winning the seat, as we scooped are bright as most of her late husband's loyalists are bent on using that as a payback for their lost boss. The grand plot is to cement her as a de facto leader of the APC in the state. On a personal note she has shown herself to be interested in taking up the challenge and essentially continue from where her late husband stopped. More of her political moves will be unfolding in just a matter of time, close sources told CityScoop.
