Exclusive: How Kemi Nelson Died Mysteriously 2 Months After Holding Thanksgiving For Surviving Cancer

+ Why Her Death Is A Big Loss To Asiwaju
The sudden death on Sunday, (July 17) of prominent female politician and socialite, Chief Mrs Kemi Nelson has thrown so many people into mourning, but the news has been more than a rude shock to her family, close friends and associates that attended a special thankgiving service she had in Lagos on May 8 to thank God specially for seeing her through the battle against cancer. CityScoop exclusively gathered that she had been so full of life since then, until she was struck by a strange attack just a day before she was pronounced dead. Everything that went wrong was just over 24 hours and all emergency efforts by doctors to save her failed, we reliably gathered. The family are now discussing her burial plans. Kemi Nelson's death, at 66 is a huge loss to the APC and particularly its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, who described her as one of his 'closest associates".
The late Kemi Nelson was a big force in Lagos politics. She was an experienced politician, who as far back as 1992 contested the senatorial election in the Lagos West District. Until her death, she was a serving member of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) -the highest decision-making body in the running of the affairs of Lagos State in past years. From 1999 to 2003, she served as the Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation during the tenure of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. She served as the Women Leader of Lagos State Chapter of APC and was later made the South West Women Leader of APC.
When he paid a condolence visit to the deceased family in Lagos on Monday, Asiwaju said “I was shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of activist, prominent politician and one of my closest associates, Yeye Chief (Mrs.) Kemi Nelson. “We have all lost an illustrious woman. May we all have the strength to live with this passing. I pray that God Almighty grant her eternal rest. Good night Yeye Kemi Nelson. Good night Yeye of the Universe".
The gravity of the loss to Asiwaju personally could easily be summed up with the words of Hon. Jude Idimogu, a two-term member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II, who said that the late Nelson passed on when her wealth of experience was needed for the actualisation of the presidential ambition of Sen. Bola Tinubu. “It is sad and unfortunate that we have lost this mobiliser at a time that we needed her to give massive support to our dear APC’s presidential flag bearer, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu", the lawmaker said on Tuesday.
