The Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Dr. Abdul Ganiyy Adekunle Salaudeen, (Oloogunebi Ajinese 1) the 28th monarch of Iseyin is dead. Oba Abdul Ganniy, reportedly joined his ancestors in the early hours of today. The monarch’s demise is the fourth such occurrence among senior traditional rulers in Oyo State in eight months.
Ealier, the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Ajagungbade Oyewumi died in December 2021, followed by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, and the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who, respectively, joined their ancestors, as the Yoruba customarily say when a monarch dies, in January and April 2022.

Details of the monarch's passing are still sketchy but sources said he has been sick for a while.

Born into the family of late Pa Salau Atanda Oloogunebi of Iseyin over 50 years ago in Iseyin, Oyo state, where he attended Ansarudeen Primary School, Ebedi, Iseyin. He later proceeded to Muslim Secondary High School, Ore-Moje in Iseyin for modern school education. Kabiesi taught as a pupil teacher in some schools in Oyo State like NUD Primary School, Oluwole, Iseyin , thereafter he moved on to secondary school education at Iseyin District Grammar School (IDGS) between 1979 and 1984 and he was made the senior prefect. He later attended the University of Ibadan where he studied Veterinary Medicine. He graduated in 1991 with a good grade and had his NYSC in Edo State, and thereafter started his own private practice as a veterinary doctor and was successful. He was picked in November 2006 to occupy the sacred Aseyin throne.

Recall that earlier this year, there were rumours that the monarch had joined his ancestors, which were later found to be false. But this time, his passing has been officially confirmed.
