Laolu Martins, an investment banking expert, and the co-founder and executive director of Bukka Hut, is dead. Bukka Hut is a chain of upscale African restaurants spread across the country.
His family has officially announced his death. While the family was silent on the cause of his death, unconfirmed reports said that the Laolu committed suicide around 3am today in Lekki, Lagos.
A statement released by the family this morning said further announcements will be made on the death of the financial expert.
“We hereby solicit the support and understanding of everyone as the family grieves the loss of our beloved Laolu in our privacy. Our kind request is that you support the family – wife, children, aged mother and father and his siblings with your prayers at this difficult time. Further announcements will be made by the family,” the statement said.
Some reports have also said that the late businessman had a long-fought battle against depression. His family, as well as his partner and co-founder of Bukka Hut, Rasheed Jayeola are currently in rude shock over the development. Buka Hut just recently to opened their 15th outlet in Ikorodu, Lagos.
The late Laolu Martins was a chartered stockbroker and a chartered accountant with over two decades of experience in investment banking, corporate banking, stockbroking, asset management and pension fund management, He started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1999.
