Ooni Drags  Queen Naomi's Brother To Court Over Alleged Forgery, N26m Fraud

The last may yet have been heard about issues concerning the Ooni of Ife, HRM Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and his ex queen, Naomi Silekunola. Naomi's brother, Ogunseyi Gbenro Akinfolarin, has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrate Court for alleged forgery and criminal conversion of N26m. He was arraigned on three-count charges bothering on forgery and criminal conversion of money.
The Prosecution said the offence was committed in September 2019. Akinfokarin was alleged to have forged the receipt of the Atibiti Faaye Family for the purchase of 32 plots of land. The offences are punishable under sections 467 and 390(8)(b) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol 1 Laws of Ondo State 2006.

Akinfolarin pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him. Presiding Judge, Justice Yemi Fasanmi, adjourned the case to January 9, 2023 for commencement of trial.

It would be recalled that the former brother-in-law to the Kabiyesi was a prominent face in some of the melee that preceeded Queen Naomi's controversial exit from the Ooni's palace last October.
