Many, as you read this, are still in awe of the one-in-town, glamorous Lagos wedding of Dr Toyin Oladejo (Dr TeeGlam) and her new husband , Hon Seyi Oladejo. The bride, Dr. Toyin made all the headlines for her luxury, expensive looks for the wedding. From her clothes, dresses, to her shoes, bags, and of course, her jewelry. Dr TeeGlam sure has a massive taste for exquisite, expensive jewelry. Those who know much about Italian designs confirm that most of the jewelry she rocked for her wedding cost a fortune and were diamond crafted. One of her major plug for the pieces was Mrs Vivian of Black Diamondds. Apart from being her personal jeweler, she is also a close friend of Dr TeeGlam. She was one of the
guests who flew into Lagos from the US for the talk-of-the-town wedding.
She sold some of the exquisite pieces rocked by Dr Toyin, including the diamond encrusted white piece she had on for the white wedding and some of the pieces she rocked for her photoshoots. Mrs Vivian had so many sweet words to described Dr Toyin (in her interview with CityScoop during the wedding in Lagos). She revealed that apart from being her personal jeweler, she has been her friend for close to two decades and their kids are friends too.
An Igbo woman from Imo State, Vivian is a graduate of the University of Portharcourtt. She grew up and lived in the Rivers State capital before relocating to the US in 2001. Her brand name, Black Diamonds is coined from her looks. Mrs Vivian is blessed with a shining black skin, with a charming look to complement it. She has been in the jewelry business for over 20 years and has made fortunes therein. “I started off as a young lady in Nigeria at the age of 20 before moving to the United States. I began from the scratch and had to go through the different stages of growth in the business. Black diamondds is now known today for the best of pure Italian gold, customized jewelry and exquisite diamonds”, she told CityScoop.
At the beginning when she moved to the US in 2001, the celebrity jeweler recalled how she invested just $1000 in the jewelry business back then, but now, she has a big showroom located in Texas. The Black Diamonds brand today has a long list of Nigerians in the diaspora on its clientele.
Recalling her humble beginning in the business, the Black Diamonds boss also spoke about how she started off before the advent of social media - having to be moving from one place to another to deliver orders, send emails to clients and all that, those days that there were no Facebook or Instagram.
