It was a mixed bag of emotions yesterday in Abuja when Lloyd Ekweremadu, son of erstwhile Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu got married to his heartrob, Tiffany. As the lovebirds exchange their marital vows at the colourful wedding in the presence of close family, friends and well-wishers - the parents of the groom are hanging on to fate inside the prison in the UK.
It’s been one trial too many for the Ekweremadus but many however, are happy to see the family showing strength at Lloyd and Tiffany’s beautiful wedding that took place at Basilica of Grace Anglican Church, Gudu District, Abuja yesterday.
Senator Ike Ekweremadu’s political friends and associates did their best in filling the void of the absence of the groom’s dad, as they turned out en-masse to identify with the family.
Ekweremadu, who represented Enugu West senatorial district in the Senate for about two decades, is being held in a UK prison with his wife Beatrice after they were found guilty of organ trafficking and sentenced to different jail terms in May, 2023.
The court sentenced the former Deputy Senate President to nine years and eight months in prison and his wife, Beatrice to four years and six months in prison while a doctor who allegedly colluded with them, Obinna Obeta, was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
