Former Speaker, Dimeji Bankole To Take New Wife, Set To Wed Kebbi Gov's Daughter

Hon. Dimeji Bankole, former Speaker of the House of Representatives is set to take another wife. Scoops from the grapevine hinted that he will be tying the knot once again, this time with the daughter of a Northern Governor.
Hon. Bankole who emerged Nigeria 's 9th Speaker at the age of 37 (between 2011 and 2015), has been married to his Yoruba wife, Olaitan with who he has a daughter.

He lost their daughter, Yewande, to sickle cell anaemia in October 2014. It was a most traumatic period for Bankole, as he later lost his reelection back to the house and also reportedly kicked out of his party then, PDP.  He subsequently withdrew from social and political activities.

Nothing was heard of Bankole for long. His wife, Olaitan, who was very noticeable as Speaker's Wife during his time in office, also went off the radar. It was later in 2019 that the former Speaker resurfaced when he contested for Ogun State Governorship on the ticket of Action Democratic Party, (ADP) and lost. He has however rejigged his political machinery and connections since then.

Sources revealed that the former speaker now lives on Aso Drive, Abuja, where he is getting set to throw a 3-day private but classy wedding Fatiha with his new bride between January 14 and 16. Details of the wedding have been kept private to avoid different tongues wagging over his decision to take another wife. Meanwhile, it has been confirmed already that the wedding Nikkah will play host to the top politicians, lawmakers, governors, and other bigwigs across the country.

According to sources, Bankole (now 51) and his new wife have been courting for over 3 years. It was also revealed that The Nikkah ceremony had already taken place recently in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State capital.
