Since the demise of the Alafin of Oyo on Saturday, tributes have been flowing in for him across the world; including his immediate family, friends, the royal world, government and so on. But a section of people have particularly been waiting for the tributes from the Queens who exited the Oyo palace in controversial circumstances while Oba Lamidi Adeyemi was alive. The great monarch was reported to have left behind 18 Oloris (Queens).
On Saturday, Queen Dami, who more or less had a face off with Kabiyesi but later did a public apology was embarrassed at the palace by one of the daughters of the late Alaafin. Queen Dami who was on a condolence visit with her mother was chased out of the palace. In a video that went viral on social media, a lady, supposedly a daughter of Alaafin, also said she doesn't want to see Queen Badira near the palace either.
Meanwhile, when the news of Kabiyesi's demise broke, Queen Badira Ajoke was said to be in Saudi Arabia where she was performing Umrah(lesser Hajj). A lot of people who have been following her since her days at the Oyo Palace had been waiting to see her reaction, as well as that of the other two Queens that left the palace to the death of their late husband.
Queen Ajoke was the first to leave the palace. Her exit from the palace two years ago generated a lot of controversy. She was alleged of have been dating some money bags while still a queen to the King. Those who are in the know reveal that Queen Badira's problem started when the late Alafin threw a superlative 30th birthday gig for her. Other younger queens in the palace became envious of her, especially Queen Omoh who some pointed as being behind her ordeal. Close sources said the late Alaafin could not hide his preference for Queen Ajoke as he appeared to have pampered her more than others.
However, we heard that since her exit from the palace, Queen Ajoke has been doing well for herself. She has expanded her business and recently opened another branch in an eyebrow area of Lagos. Those who are in the know revealed that she is currently enjoying goodies from her new money bag lover.
Today, she posted a touching tribute where she extolled the virtues of the late monarch and celebrated the love she got from him, while also revealing how she was forced out of the palace for being the King's preferred choice. Her words..
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un”. Daddy… Word fail me but (Allahu’ alam-God knows better”). I was thinking it's all lies and that you are coming back but I'm afraid I was wrong. The father of my kids, that I met at an impressionable age left when it was least expected. Whenever I tell people that the bond we share can be likened to that of a "Siamese", having been married to you at age 19, they are more that transfixed. We were practically best of friends but the moment they had an inklings about whom your favorite was, everything flopped. Alas! the kids and I can't see you anymore nor converse with you any longer but I vehemently believe you are seeing us, how I wish we can still have few words because I've got a whole lot to tell you. I'm bereft of what to tell the boys especially, Adejuwon, because at his age, he reads and and surf the net so much that curiosity gets hold of him and has already know a lot about you. You remain to me, a best father, teacher and mentor and husband that ever bestrode the landscapes. Almighty Allah will forgive all your sins and accept your return.
Recall that Queen Omoh and Queen Moji also exited the palace in controversial manners. When they left, stories went round that a popular socialite who has been linked and identified with dating several actresses camped them in an hotel in Lagos before they both left to the United Kingdom. Till this moment Queen Omoh and Queen Moji are yet to put anything on their social media handles to mourn the late King."
