CHIEF AKANNI ALUKO: How Business Mogul Spent His Last Days With Family At His Bedside As He Dies At 79

Renowned business mogul, Chief Akanni Aluko, has died just days before his 79th birthday.Chief Aluko, a successful entrepreneur,  newspaper publisher, political analyst and philanthropist passed on to glory at the early hours of today surrounded by his wives, children , inlaws and grandchildren.

Aluko, a trained Geologist, hailed from Ilesha, Osun State, where he is a high chief. He was the publisher of the defunct Third Eye Newspapers. Chief Aluko is a childhood friend of the late Are Musulumi of Yorubaland  Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Arisekola Alao. He was a known socialite.

Close family members disclosed how Chief Aluko fell ill 22 years ago narrated how he finally succumbed to go to eternal rest. Since then, he had been managing his health.  His movement later became restricted after a stroke attack. He was was reported to have taken ill seriously last Wednesday, June 22 and was admitted at the University Teaching Hospital, Ibadan but he didn't recover. Chief Aluko would have turned 79 on July 22, 2022.

A family source quoted said ”It got to a stage when some of his organs could not function optimally due to old age and was undergoing dialysis twice a week at UCH Ibadan. He however carried on so well with life. "He was coping well, eating and engaging in his usual banter with hearty laughter. His daily routine included constantly keeping abreast with the topical news in the country.  He was active till he passed on on all social happenstances as a good political and social analyst that he was", the family source said. 

”On Tuesday, the first day for his dialysis this week, he was wheeled in for  the process but 40 minutes into it, he started shivering and immediately, the machine was stopped. He went into coma but came around after few minutes. Sensing that his condition was not stable a Catholic priest was invited to pray for him with administration of Holy Communion. On his request, messages were instantly sent to all his children to be at the bedside of their adorable dad and they all responded. Between Wednesday night till he dropped his last breath, he was coming in and out of coma. At intervals, he opened his eyes to behold his family for the last times, all in an atmosphere mixed with emotions and grief. He was confirmed dead at 2am today, Friday July 1, 2022.
