Hon. Ademola Popoola, member representing Ibadan South-East II in the Oyo state house of assembly has died, aged 46. The PUNCH gathered that Popoola, who had secured a ticket to seek another term on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was already making plans to start his reelection campaign. for next March's election.
Popoola died in the early hours of today at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan. Reports said he died after battling liver and kidney related ailments for some days. For several days, the state lawmakers, friends had severally paid visits to the hospital to check on their Popoola until his death this morning.
Until his death, Popoola, popularly called Popson, was the Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
Meanwhile, the State Governor, Seyi Makinde has expressed shock over the death of the assemblyman. He described the lawmaker’s death as sad, painful and a huge loss to the state.
He prayed to God to grant repose to the soul of the late Assembly member, whom he said contributed his best efforts in the House towards the overall development of Oyo State.
