Yesterday, a commemorative lecture was held in Abuja to mark the one year remembrance of late Edo-born Billionaire, Captain (Dr) Hosa Wells Okunbo. Former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan was the keynote speaker at the lecture themed 'Lasting Legacies: The Key To Nigeria's Development Issues' - held at Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments, Asokoro in Abuja, owned by the late Capt. Hosa. Other panelists at the lecture included Dr. Mrs Oby Ezekwesili, Mr Tonye Cole, Bishop Wells Idahosa, Mr Otto Orondaam and was moderated by Adesua Okunbo-Rhodes.
The wife of the Olu of Warri, Olori Atuwatse III, and her mum, Mrs Evelyn Okunbo were supported by the family at the event attended by other notable dignitaries including the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III Queen and the Dein of Agbor Kingdom, HRM Benjamin Ikechukwu, former Governor Adams Oshiomole, Ex-First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan and others. Last Sunday, the family held a special memorial thanksgiving service in Benin City, Edo State, which saw a large turnout of family members, and dignitaries including Governor Godwin Obaseki, his Deputy and members of the state cabinet. Encomiums were once again rained on the late Captain Hosa by everyone who spoke at the event.
Recall that last Mrs Nosa Okunbo, Chief Hosa's young widow had a special memorial and thanksgiving service with her children at the Trinity House Chapel in London where Pastor Ituah Ighodalo ministered. She was not a part of the events held in Nigeria.
