Retired Maj.-Gen. Abdullahi Muraina, a prominent son of Ibadanland in Oyo State, who retired as the Paymaster of the Nigerian Army few years back, is dead. General Muraina, the husband of business and society woman, Mrs Peju Muraina reportedly died in Dubai today following a brief illness. He had been receiving treatment in the UAE for a few weeks now, according to sources.
His last public outing was in May, when daughter, Yetunde Bamiro had her talk-of-the-town birthday celebration.
Gen. Abdullahi Muraina is an alumnus of the both University of Lagos and the University of Ilorin.
He obtained a B.Sc. in accounting at UNILAG and Masters of business administration at the University of Ilorin.
He had a distinguished career in the Nigerian Army and retired after 35 years of meritorious service as a Major General. He retired from the Nigerian Army in Sept. 2014 as Chief of Accounts and Budget.
Until his death, he was the 23rd President and Chairman of Council of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered). His investiture held at a colourful event that took place on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at the MUSON Centre in Lagos. Dignitaries from all walks of life, including his family and friends, representatives of other professional, government and corporate bodies attended the ceremony.
