| Barring any unforseen development, the ambition of ex-Oyo ALGON Chairman, Ademola Obafemi Ojo to win a seat into the National Assembly in the February 16, 2019 election appears to be getting odds turned its favour. Ojo, widely reffered to as Ijaya is contesting the election for Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency on the ticket of the APC. Otunba Ademola Ojo, a 3-time Chairman of Ibarapa Central Local Government is a confirmed grassroots political with massive followership. This will be the first time he will be contesting an election since he left office as LG Chairman in 2011. He aspired for Senate in 2015 but did not even contest in the primaries.
Our checks however revealed that his chances are very bright this time around, which made many leaders of the APC in the state throw their support behind him. The state Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi who is also contesting the Oyo South Senatorial district election in the coming election, is one of the main backers of Ojo, we gathered.
Our sources revealed that Ademola Ojo's electoral value in his native Ibarapaland (which also falls within Oyo South Senatorial district) was one factor the governor and the APC structure in the state could not overlook. The belief is that his candidacy at the National Assembly election will boost the fortunes of the APC in Ibarapa Central and North. A victory for Ojo at the poll come February 16, 2019 will no doubt improve the chances of Governor Ajimobi in winning his Senatorial election too, a top APC chieftain in Oyo State told CityScoop.
Otunba Ojo is coming into the elections with a robust wealth of experience and those who are familiar with the politics of Oyo State say he may be coasting to victory in the 2019 election going by the strong political structure he had built over the years and the overwhelming support he has received from his kinsmen so far.
His campaign has been fierce so far and a source close to the sociable politician said he has more up his sleeves.
In a chat with CityScoop over the weekend, Otunba Ojo said his passion to bring the best to his people and constituency has always been the major motivation for his ambitions in politics. "My people have so far expressed dissatisfaction in the kind of representation they have had over the years, with little or nothing to show for it and they specifically declared their faith in me to give them a better experience based on my antecedents from the past. And that's why I have heeded their call this time and God's willing, I will not dissapoint them", he said.
"With the overwhelming support President Buhari has been receiving from across the country for his re-election and the outstanding achievements of Governor Ajimobi that will make the people of Oyo South vote for him enmasse to return to the Senate again, it is only reasonable that we (Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency) align ourselves with the winning team so we can bring a lot of goodies to our people in terms of social infrastructure and welfare", Ojo also said.
